My 10 year old nephew also wanted to make a knife out of a sawzall blade. So I gave him one, he went out to the bench grinder and this is what he came back with.
He had it marked off to be a tanto blade but then he got a little crazy with the grinder and rounded it off. The handle was wrapped with 5 feet of snare wire and then with rainbow colored paracord. I thought that that color paracord looks pretty cool on this little knife. A quick and easy project.
